Jim Eurick was born in Saginaw and attended Saginaw High School where he was a multiple-sport athlete. He captained both the baseball and football teams and was named to the All-Saginaw Valley football team his senior year in football. Eurick went on to Central Michigan University where he attained his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and education. His football coaching career, which spans 40 years, began at Bridgeport-Spaulding High School where he was an assistant coach for four years. Eurick moved on to Chesaning Union High School where he coached from 1976 to 1984. Along the way, the Indians had an overall record of 57-28 with four Mid-Michigan B championships and a pair of state semifinal appearances. He then moved on to Arthur Hill High School for 12 years (1985-96), compiling a record of 86-35. His Lumberjack teams won four Saginaw Valley League championships and made five playoff appearances. In 1991 Arthur Hill won the Class AA state championship with a 13-12 victory over Detroit’s Redford Catholic Central. One year later the Lumberjacks made it back to the state championship game, but suffered a 21-20 to Catholic Central. Eurick then took over head coaching duties at Bay City Western for 12 years (1997-2008). His Warrior squads produced three Saginaw Valley League titles, six playoff appearances and one state semifinal appearance (2005). His overall record at Western was 71-52. Eurick’s overall high school football coaching record is 214-115. He was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2009. Eurick, who also served as Bay City Western’s athletic director for 12 years, was the head coach of the West team in the 1997 Michigan High School All-Star football game. He coached freshman and junior varsity baseball at Bridgeport and Arthur Hill for eight years. Eurick has been a board member of the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame since 2013. In a Saginaw News poll, he joined fellow coaches George Ihler and Bill Kelly on Arthur Hill’s all-time football team. Additionally, he coached the Saginaw Super Flite baseball team for seven years in Saginaw Township’s Connie Mack League.
