senior year in football (1946) Earned scholarship to Michigan

State College where he was a four-year letter winner and

three-year starter in football Became nationally known passing

quarterback, blocker, and linebacker for the Spartans
Held most of Michigan State's passing records for more than two decades Tossed four touchdown passes in a victory over Iowa State and totaled 11 touchdown passes his junior season Named Spartan MVP after completing 38 of 71 passes for 776 yards 
Signed by Detroit Lions in 1950 but was sidelined by a knee injury
Successful football, basketball and baseball coach at St. Andrew's High School
Teams won five Parochial League football titles and two VPL basketball championships
Named to Arthur Hill High School's Letterwinner's Hall of Fame in 1963
