Dan was born January 16, 1954 to a family of eight and is a life long resident of Saginaw. He attended North Intermediate and Arthur Hill High School where he lettered in football and basketball. He went on to play basketball at Delta College and Ferris State University from 1972 through 1975.

Dan began working at General Motors Saginaw Manufacturing in 1976. During his 30 plus years as a member of UAW Local 467 he was elected to two terms on the Shop / Bargaining Committee. He also served as a member of the Recreation Committee and worked as a Licensed Stationary Engineer for the last 17 years. While working he attend Saginaw Valley State University part time to finish his education and graduated 1987 with a Business Administration Degree. After retiring from Delphi in May of 2007, he joined the Saginaw Spirit Hockey Club and continues today as a Tickets and Corporate Sales Account Executive.

He started coaching his daughter’s 6th grade basketball team in 1992 at Saint Thomas Aquinas School and has coached youth basketball, every season since. Dan has been a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas Athletic Association for 20 years and served in all capacities within that organization including two terms as President. He was the Director of Athletics at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School from 2003 till 2006.

Dan was the Co-Founder and Director of the Tri-City Nets Girls A.A.U. Basketball Club from 1993 to 1999. The Nets went from 24 participants to over 100 and became one of the largest clubs in the state of Michigan. The Club is still active today.

He has four children. His daughter Ashley graduated from Nouvel Catholic Central in 2000 and was a Captain for the 1999 Final Four Class C Girls Basketball team. Ashley received her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University and is currently enrolled in a dual Master Degree Program at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and Public Health. Drew graduated from Nouvel in 2004 and was captain of both the 2003 Division 6 State Finalist Football team and the Varsity Basketball team. Drew completed his college football career at Hope College in 2007 with two M.I.A.A. Conference Championships 2006 and 2007, All Conference First Team 2007 honors and was voted by his teammates as Hope College Defensive M.V.P. his senior season. Drew graduated with a degree in Secondary Education in the spring of 2009 and is currently working at South Haven High School. Dan’s son Jordan graduated from Nouvel in 2007 and was a member of the 2006 Division 6 State Champion Football Team. Jordan is his junior year at Alma College majoring in Early Childhood Education is playing football. Griffin is in 8th grade at St. Thomas and plays basketball, football and baseball.

Dan lives in Saginaw Township with his loving wife of 29 years Joanie.
