Jack Tany

Jack B. Tany, a lifelong resident of Saginaw County, attended Zilwaukee Junior High School where he participated in a number of sports and St. Mary's Cathedral High School where he played two years of varsity football. After graduating from Central Michigan University where he earned a degree in journalism, he was player/coach for area softball teams Expressway Bar, Plantation Bar and Ancon Tool & Die where his teams won a record 33 consecutive games. He formerly served as sports editor for The Township Times, a position he held for 10 years. In addition, for five years he performed color commentary for prep football and basketball games on radio station WSAM. Tany also wrote and self published the book “Glory, The History of Saginaw County Sports.” He is employed as a Senior Account Executive for CBS Outdoor in Flint, while also writing for Tri-City Lifestyle Magazine and The Review Magazine. One of the original founders of the Hall of Fame, Tany currently serves as Hall of Fame president. He sits on a number of boards throughout the area including the Saginaw Valley Sports Commission, Heroes for Kids, and the Leadership Alumni Association of Saginaw County. Tany, who is a member of the Saginaw Old Golds Vintage Base Ball team, Sons of Italy Lodge # 2456, and Historical Society of Saginaw County, volunteers his time for the Holy Trinity Catholic Church's Booster Club and as an umpire in the Bay City Southwest Little League.
