*Went to Michigan State College and was a two-year starter at safety

*Intercepted three passes and awarded the game ball in collegiate debut vs. Oregon State

*Ran back six punts for touchdowns in his Spartan career

*Named All-America by Chicago Tribune in sophomore and junior seasons (1951-52)

*Played on Michigan State's National Championship undefeated team (1952)

*Selected in National Football League draft by Cleveland Browns after his junior year

*After serving in the U.S. Army, played one year in the Canadian Football League
